Family Therapy Sessions
Family-based interventions focus on analyzing the relational patterns of each family member and devising strategies that decrease identified concerns while fostering a more positive, relationally-focused mentality within the family system. My treatment approach is modeled after Functional Family Therapy, although specific techniques and interventions come from other styles such as Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems Theory, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy.
At minimum, family therapy will involve an adolescent or preadolescent client (age 11-17) and one parent/guardian, though additional household members are encouraged to attend if appropriate. The typical duration of family therapy is 6-12 months.
